Matcha Frozen Yoghurt with Honey Macadamia |
Variety is not Cacao Green's strongest selling point. Their frozen yoghurt is available only in vanilla, strawberry or green tea. A chocolate version is coming soon, although I'm not sure if this will be a permanent fixture or limited special. Jazz up your choice of flavour with a variety of toppings including berry compote, fresh fruits, muesli, nuts and bite sized pieces of cheesecake (not fat free!). They also serve parfaits, smoothies, frappes and yoghurt drinks. It's a bit curious that the parfaits are only available in vanilla - surely it's not too much trouble to make one in strawberry or green tea since the yoghurt is all dispensed from soft serve machines?
The yoghurt itself is absolutely delectable. It is remarkably light and airy, yet at the same time so impeccably smooth and creamy. I could go on and on about how perfect the texture is. The green tea flavour is subtle, certainly nothing like the green tea ice creams that you get at Japanese restaurants. The toppings are fresh and of good quality. Unfortunately Cacao Green are a bit frugal with them, especially considering it costs an extra dollar per topping or $2.50 for three. This sounds like a lot but the word 'sprinkle' comes to mind when describing how much topping you get. It would also be great to see the range of toppings expanded as there really aren't that many.
Cacao Green is going to be a regular fixture whenever I'm out in the CBD. Healthy, fresh and light, the frozen yoghurt is a great snack for any time of the day. For those who aren't fans of regular yoghurt, I would encourage you to give this a go as the subtlety of the flavours means that you only get a faint hint of that 'sour' taste that accompanies other yoghurt products.
